Autostraddle reviews our Queer issue

So the Queer issue of Poetry Is Dead that I edited hit newsstands a couple weeks ago and we have our first review! It’s from mega-blog Autostraddle and is written by Sarah Fonseca, a 2012 Lambda Fellow and regular Autostraddle contributor.

Obviously, any response to our issue is wonderful to read but this review was particularly gratifying because (a) Autostraddle is such an inclusive, far-ranging publication and puts our issue in a space with many other forms of Queer culture and (b) Fonseca praised the un-put-downable effect of the issue.

She writes:

My body told me everything that I needed to know. I nearly teared up while reading the editor’s letter. When I answered the phone or went to make a leftover turkey sandwich, PiD found its way onto the countertop beside me. I wasn’t conscious of my hands turning the pages–just that I had to stop because there weren’t any more. I enjoyed everything about it until the end.

Fonseca draws particular attention to Lisa Foad‘s gorgeous essay in the issue, Leah Horlick‘s poetry, and Leah Lakshmi Piepzna-Samarasinha‘s essay.
