A reading coming up: Guri, Jerome, Nicholson & Leslie

Here is a bit about Gillian, Cecily and Helen:

Cecily Nicholson is a poet, organizer and administrator working since 2000 in the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver, unceded territories. Her work, both creative and social, is often in collaboration with artists and educators. She is the author of: Triage (Talonbooks, 2011) and From the Poplars (Talonbooks, 2014).

Gillian Jerome’s first book of non-fiction Hope In Shadows, Stories and Photographs from Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside (with Brad Cran) won the 2008 City of Vancouver Book Award and was shortlisted for a BC Book Prize. Her first book of poems, Red Nest (Nightwood), won the ReLit Prize for Poetry in 2010 and was shortlisted for the Dorothy Livesay Poetry Prize in 2010. She teaches literature at UBC.

Helen Guri is the author of Match, published by Coach House Books in 2011 and shortlisted for the Trillium Book Award for Poetry. Her poems and essays have been published widely in Canada, as well as in the U.S. and Australia. She works as a freelance editor of fiction and nonfiction for various big and small presses and edits poetry for Brick Books. She lives in Toronto.
