A few things:

Tomorrow evening at 6 PM in the AGRO Cafe on Granville Island, Megaphone, Vancouver’s street newspaper is having an event as part of the Vancouver Writers Fest. Megaphone runs a community writing program which offers writing workshops in housing projects, drop-in centres and recovery facilities in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and the West End. I’ve taught for this program for a couple years now. Six writers from the workshops will be reading and I’ll be moderating a panel discussion afterwards about their work. Come hear the writers talk.

Also, Megaphone is starting up a new weekly workshop at QMUNITY, Vancouver’s Queer community centre. I’ll be facilitating the group and it will run every Wednesday from 1-2:30 PM. QMUNITY is on Bute, just off Davie, in the Davie Village neighbourhood. No writing experience is necessary and all are welcome. The workshop is an intentional safe space for genderqueer, trans and non-gender-conforming writers. If you have any questions about the workshop please email me.

And another review of my book popped up here. From the review: “The only other writer I’ve read who has really reimagined the west coast for me is Haisla author Eden Robinson.” (Eden Robinson is one of my favourite writers!)
