I mentioned in a post a little while ago that poet Sachiko Murakami is running the project Henko: A Powell Street Manyway Renga at www.powellstreethenko.ca. You can participate in the poem by going to site and clicking on the + sign under any of the stanzas.
At the Powell Street Festival (August 4th and 5th in Oppenheimer Park in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside) Sachiko will present the project as a soundscape of the contributors. She will also be distributing postcards printed with stanzas. I’m happy that some of my writing will be on the postcards.
Here’s the info about Sachiko’s presentations at the festival:
Saturday, 2:30-3:00pm, Chapel Arts
Sunday, 4:15-4:45pm, Chapel Arts
Thanks for this, Alex. I added my two 7/7 lines to the Henko. How elegant and what a great project. I am really enjoying Sachiko’s projects. Hope my sound file made it to take part of the soundscape. That will probably be *electric*. Will see if my day aligns in a way that I can make it there.
