Reading at The Gathering Place – Wednesday May 30th

This year, I’ve run the writing group at The Gathering Place in Vancouver’s West End. The group is part of Megaphones Community Writing Program, which provides writing workshops to drop-in centres and Portland Hotel Society living facilities throughout the Downtown Eastside and the West End. Many workshop participants are published in Megaphone as a result of the program, giving a valuable platform to writers struggling with issues like homelessness and poverty. It’s been a privilege for me to work with the many amazing humans in these workshops.

AND. We’re having a reading on Wednesday May 30th at 5:30 at The Gathering Place, which is located at the corner of Helmcken and Seymour. All are welcome to attend.

I will be reading from my book People Who Disappear and, more importantly, the members of our group will be reading — Joe Thompson, George Barnes, Johnny Jaworski and Peter Bracking. There will be an open mic after the reading and everyone is welcome to share their work.

The reading will be MC’d by The Gathering Place’s intrepid librarian, Irene Brooks.

There will be tea, coffee and cookies.

Please come and listen to these writers! All are welcome!

Wednesday May 30th. 5:30 PM. 609 Helmcken Street. The theatre is to the right, past the entrance area, on the main floor.
